Year:2019

Description
I picked up this book again during a recent period of self-doubt.
Find Your Artistic Voice by Lisa Congdon was recommended by a fellow artist, and reading it feels like chatting with a group of creatives — everyone sharing their struggles and how they overcome them.

Lisa, herself an illustrator, interviewed many artists in this book to discuss what it means to have an “artistic voice.”
She reminds us to stay true to ourselves while navigating creative growth, and not to fear difficulties, doubts, or vulnerability — they’re all part of the process.

Seeing that others share the same struggles made me feel less alone, and ready to start again with warmth and courage. If you want to turn your passion into a career, keep going — even through the lows.

《The War of Art》是由美國作家 Steven Pressfield 所著。

He encourages readers to fight this resistance daily with discipline, professionalism, and perseverance.

This is a must-read for any creative who struggles with motivation or self-doubt. A book about the mindset of persistence — and the quiet strength to keep going.

(Jimmy Liao)
Year:2023

Have you read Jimmy Liao’s works before? His books have accompanied many through their youth. In The Dream and Reality of Picture Books, Jimmy reflects on the dual nature of creation — its sweetness and the harsh realities of the market.

Through this book, you get a glimpse into the mindset of a successful picture book artist — his struggles, methods, and reflections on storytelling.
He discusses how to build rhythm, emotion, and atmosphere within simple scenes, like in his famous book Turn Left, Turn Right.

This is a heartfelt read for anyone who hopes to tell stories through illustration — honest, inspiring, and deeply human.

Steal Like an Artist /
Author:Austin Kleon
Year:2012

《Steal Like an Artist》

What They Didn’t Teach You in Design School /
Author:Phil Cleaver
Year:2014

Manabu Mizuno
Year:2014
