Youth S.P.O.T illustrator interview
Courage: My Journey as a Career Changer into Illustration

I was recently invited to share my story with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups’ Youth S.P.O.T in their feature “Take the leap—if you want to see new scenes.” This interview felt especially meaningful because it wasn’t just about illustration, but about what it means to start over in a new chapter of life.
Before becoming an illustrator, I worked in an office like many others—stable, predictable, but with an emptiness I couldn’t ignore. I kept asking myself: If this isn’t the path I want to walk for the rest of my life, shouldn’t I try something new?
That question eventually led me to take the leap: I left my job and moved to London to pursue a three-year degree in illustration. It was a decision filled with uncertainty—cultural differences, language challenges, financial pressure, and constant self-doubt. Yet stepping outside of my comfort zone opened doors I never could have imagined: new friendships, inspiring collaborations, and a renewed sense of self.
